Huge Tree Comes Down

Our neighbor had been complaining that the large tree in our front yard on East Beverley was bumping against her house when it was windy.  So, we called Williams Brothers.  Joe Williams came out and said that our 180 year old Hackberry tree would topple over soon.

So, we told them to go ahead and remove it.  Today was the day.  It was beautiful weather - without much wind fortunately.  Here is the tree before they started.

Here you can see that the 70 ton crane that they rented reached from street-level to well over the top of the tree.

The base of the crane stretched from sidewalk to sidewalk - Beverley St. was closed for the day.

They had to cut each branch separately, and lower it to the street with the crane.

One section of the trunk being lowered.

They finished up by the end of the day.

  1. What an amazing process! How sad for the tree, but I guess you can't just let it crush your neighbor's house. Anthony liked the pictures and wanted to know if we could see the crane truck while we're in town next week!

  2. Wow, too bad we missed that exciting show! I bet the house looks so different now. Maybe someone will buy it now that its more visible from the street!
